Leonorah T. Nyaruwata is currently Associate Professor, in the Facult of Education at Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU).She is the Programme Leader for BEHY and supervisor of Doctor of Philosophy candidates. Her career has included periods as Director for Centre for Open and Distance learning, Research and Scholarship, research evaluator, Academic advisor and lecturer at Gateway Trust Teachers Training, Harare in Zimbabwe. She is an advisor for Training for enterprise programme under Ministry of Youth, Indeginisation and Economic empowerment.
Leonorah is a passionate researcher who received an award for the best student for PREST in 2010. PREST is Commonwealth Open Learning’s (COL) Practitioner Research, Evaluation and Skills Training course that use open educational resources as a core source for training of open and distance learning (ODL) researchers in Southern Africa. Leonorah is one of the 18 students who comprised the first cohort for this course. She was on the Board of Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC) until 2014; Institute of Professional Financial Management (IPFM) Southern Africa; Africa Learning Development Network (ALDN) Zimbabwe; She was chairperson of the Distance Education Association of Southern Africa (DEASA) research analysis committee until 2018.
She is an external examiner for the UNISA Department of Education, University of Zululand Department of Education and Fort Hare Department of Education. She is a member of the OSSREA Zimbabwe Chapter and Zimbabwe Evaluation and Monitoring Association (ZEA). She has successfully supervised 20 PhD candidates at ZOU and Christ University Bangalore, India.
